Our History
The Jan Foundation was founded in 2004, by Judy, after the sudden and premature death of a close friend who's life had been blighted by the abuse she suffered as a child and young adult.
The passing of Jan affected Judy so profoundly that she set up The Jan Foundation, with the aim of helping women escape abusive relationships.
Our Approach
During the course of her work, Judy came to realise the complexities of abusive relationships and that it isn't so easy to just pack your bags and walk away. She understood that women need non judgemental help and advice throughout all stages of their journey.
Initially focusing on mentoring, The Jan Foundation has now branched out into, amongst other things, providing counselling, stress management and life coaching sessions, and self expression and wellness sessions, with the aim of empowering women and giving them strategies to cope with their situation.
Our Impact
Over the years, we have impacted the lives of thousands of women (and a small number of men) through our various programs and workshops to help educate the public about this still taboo subject.
Although this normally happens behind closed doors, the impact is far reaching. Knowledge is power. Together we can become more aware, and call it out when we see it.
Together we can stop violence against women!
